Summary
A 'Pill Box' hat, part of the Boys' Brigade uniform from 1883 to 1970. The hat is made of stiff fabric, with a white edged band around the brim, and a metal number '20' (the Company number) pinned through the front. It has a leather chin strap with adjustible metal buckle. There are some signs of wear, mainly to the blue fabric on top of the hat.
Provenance
Collected by ‘The Boys’ Brigade’ Nottingham and donated to the National Trust Museum of Childhood by Keith Vinerd in January 2011.
