Summary
A letter of account from Christ's College, Cambridge University. On the right-hand side is a set of columns. In the left-hand column is a printed list in alphabetical order. To the right are columns headed pounds; shillings and pence. Handwritten and printed to the left-hand side of the columns of account is 'Christ's College, Cambridge, Mr. Routh's Bill to the Rev. E.J. Ash, Quarter ending Chrs. 1836. Mr. Ash's Bankers, Messrs. Curries and Co., 29, Cornhill, London; and Messrs. Fisher and Sons, Cambridge. It is ordered by the Statutes, that all Bills due to the Tutor be paid within the quarter in which they are issued; and that no person in statu pupillari, whose account is one quarter in arrear, be per-mitted to reside in College'. Handwritten in ink are the corresponding amounts of money spent on particular items from the printed list. The letter was originally sealed with sealing wax and bears a date stamp reading 1887.
