Two certificates, one an archbishop's certificate, the other a certificate of attendance and examination, both awarded to William Staff Barker. The archbishop's certificate is headed with an archbishop's mitre and has a thin red line forming a border around the main part of the certificate, which is printed and handwritten in black ink and has some initial letters in red ink. It begins as follows: 'Archbishop's Certificate. We Certify that William Staff Barker was admitted to an examination in Divinity held under our authority on the twelfth day of October 1874, and was placed in the First Class. [Followed by the signatures of the Principal and the President of the Council who is also the Bishop of the Diocese]'. This is followed by Inspector's Reports on the Thorpe St. Andrew's Boys School from 1877 to 1885. The other certificate is headed with a coat of arms between the words 'University of' and 'Cambridge' and continues as follows: 'Lectures And Classes In Popolous Places, Certificate of Attendance and Examination, Given under the authority of the Syndicate appointed by Grace of the Senate for organising and superintending courses of Lectures and Classes in Populous Places.
