Summary
A child's wooden two-seater hand cart. Each seat is arranged back to back and each has a wooden foot rest. The front footrest has two shaped metal feet, which the cart rests upon when stationary. Both seats share a single pair of back uprights between which are two pairs of back rails. The shared, three slatted arm rests extend the full length of the cart. Attached to each arm rest are four vertical slats which connect the seats to a wooden frame beneath. Through this frame runs a metal axel, supported by metal brackets, which connects two large spoked metal wheels with rubber or plastic tyres. One wheel has a rectangular wooden mudguard held in place with metal brackets. The other wheel has part of one metal bracket only. On the hub of each wheel is a metal oil reservoir, the tops of which unscrew. The long wooden handles run the full length of the cart, (forming part of the frame) and extend 762mm from the front edge of the cart. The ends of each handle are turned to form hand grips.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Miss D. J. Bullock in February 1971.
