Summary

The following items consist of two coats and one pair of trousers all of which are different in design (circa 1900 to circa 1910). A black, with a faint green stripe, woollen coat is to fit a child. The sailor type collar is decorated with green and brown stitching either side of a strip of black and white patterned tape. It has long sleeves and a vertical breast pocket on the left front. The self coloured, material belt has a shaped metal buckle. The sleeves are pleated into a buttoned cuff. It fastens down the front with three metal (tin) decorative buttons. They have an embossed pattern of different concentric circles and are painted green between each circle. Smaller versions of the same pattern are on the cuffs. There is a black ribbon to fasten the collar. The body of the coat is lined with dark green fabric. The sleeves are lined with white and blue striped cotton. A card label is sewn onto the front hem. A child's grey wool coat with a white collar. The folds over the front and fastens at the right-hand shoulder with two hook and eyes. The coat also fastens with four round black plastic buttons, these fit into button holes which are located on the inside of the coat and are concealed in the lining. On the front of the coat are four round black plastic buttons which are located fairly close together and are purely decorative. The coat fastens at each cuff with one round black plastic button and has a wide tie at the waist which also fastens with a button as described. The coat has two collars one of which fastens over the other and is made from white cotton (detachable) in a heavy striped weave, this fastens over the plain wool collar below by three white buttons. There is also a black ribbon sewn onto the front of the neckline. At the bottom right-hand corner is sewn a label on the inside of the lining. This is sewn on with large stitches which show on the outside. The label reads 'No.1169, Style 883, Size 00'. A label also reads 'Costello'. A pair of browny-black, woollen, short trousers suitable for a young boy. The trousers are fully lined in white cotton. The fly fastens with plastic buttons. The waistband is shaped at the back and has six metal buttons for bracers. There is one side pocket. Total number of items is 3.
