A cardboard wallet with the title 'Wallis's New Geographical Game, Exhibiting a Tour through Europe' printed on the front in black ink. Around the title is an illustration of a queen surrounded by luggage, boxes, an artist's pallet, a bust of a head, books, a globe and a flag. This black printed illustration has been hand coloured. The publisher, Edward Wallis, 42 Skinner Street, London, is given at the bottom of this illustration. Printed on the top corner is 'Wallis's Tour Of Europe, A New Geographical Pastime, London, Published March 13th 1811 by John Wallis at his Map Warehouse No.13 Warwick Square. Of whom may be had upon the same Plan, A Tour through England and round the World'. The edges of the wallet are worn and are fragile. The game consists of a printed instruction book and a map. The map is in colour, printed onto fabric. The map shows the countries of Europe in colour with parts of Africa and Asia uncoloured. The names of the countries are printed in black ink and numbers are printed on them referring to the game. The instruction book has the title of the game printed on the cover in black ink, with the publisher and printer. The first page of the book gives the rules of the game and the rest of the book gives information about various places around the world. The book has twenty four pages, the edges slightly crumpled. Printed on the book is 'Wallis's Tour Through Europe, A New Geographical Game. London. Published As The Act Directs, By E. Wallis, 42, Skinner Street, Snow Hill. Printed By T. Davis, 102, Minories'. There is also another map, unconnected with the game, but included with the object, see notes for further details. This map is printed onto fabric and is black and white. The map is entitled 'A General Map of the Roads of England and Wales, Engraved for Mogg's Improved Edition of Patersons Roads'. The map shows England, Wales, with parts of Scotland, Ireland and France. England and Wales have the roads and placed names printed on it and numbered counties. On the reverse side are handwritten pencil sums and a title although these are very faded. The map is undated. Total number of items is 4.
