Summary
A worm or snake made from discs of card cut around used postage stamps and threaded onto a plastic string. The discs get gradually smaller in diameter towards the bottom. There are two small plastic pearly buttons attached to the string, one stopping the card discs from sliding further along the string. Associated with this are coins and a fishing reel line and coins which acted as templates for the discs, the thimble and needles in a case for making the toy and scraps of velvet also used in the construction. There are also 360 small scraps of torn envelope with either one or several stamps on each.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mrs C. V. E. Benfield in September 1995.
