Summary
A certificate awarded by the School Board for London to Walter Fisher of Thomas Street School on November 3rd 1876 in recognition of passing 'the Examination of Her Majesty's Inspector in Reading, Writing and Arithmetic according to the III Standard'. The name, school name, date and standard number are handwritten in black ink. The certificate is printed mainly in black on a white background, with the writing in an arch-shaped space at the centre, which has an ornate border incorporating classically-dressed children with books and slates and swags of foliage entwined with ribbons, on a pink background. The printers' details are at the lower edge. The bottom left-hand corner has torn off and been reunited with the rest when the certificate was mounted on a piece of cream cardboard. This join is very dirty.
