Summary
A bubble blowing kit called ' Bubbleen' by the British company 'Givjoy', with clay and wooden pipes (circa 1926 to circa 1950). A rectangular, card box with a removable lid. The base and lid are covered with a mottled grey patterned papper. Stuck to the lid is a white label printed in black with ''Bubbleen' Blows Beautiful Bouncing Bubbles', the makers trademark and a brief description of the properties and benefits of using this product. Inside are three pipes. One made of a white compound which has a thin stem and an embossed patterned bowl. The other two are of a light wood turned wood to form a straight stem which opens out at the end to make the bowl. Total number of items is 5. 'Givejoy' were perhaps most famous for the Skybirds model aircraft range, offering a wide range of toys from wooden forts and model railway buildings to film projectors and toy garden equipment.Givjoy forts were shown in a 1926 edition of Games & Toys. It is thought the company ceased trading late 1950s. Donor's memories - "'the wooden pipes were rarely played with as they did not work as well as the clay pipes."
