Summary
A ceramic child's tea service comprising six cups, six saucers, one milk jug, one teapot with a lid, and one sugar basin with a lid. The cups, jug, teapot and basin are decorated with a pinkish-brown shade which gets lighter from the bottom upwards, and a spiral fluted shape. On top of this is a pattern of flowers with gold stems, green leaves, and brightly coloured red, blue and pink flowers. The saucers have a similar shading and pattern, but are not fluted. All pieces have a wavy edge with a gold rim. One cup is cracked and the sugar basin and its lid have both been chipped and repaired. On the base of most items is a maker's mark printed in green, showing a capital letter 'T' in a square, supported by a heraldic animal with a forked tail, above the word 'Germany'. Total number of items is 17.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mrs J. Astle-Fletcher in August 1985.
