Summary
A boy's short sleeved white cotton pique half-mourning dress (circa 1871) with a boat neckline. This dress belonged to a boy called Travers Buxton (born 10.12.1864) who wore them on the death of his mother in 1871. The dress has black braid twisted into a design around the neck, hem, sleeves and six rows divided around the dress. The neck and sleeves are edged with black buttonhole stitch.
Provenance
This dress is part of a set of mourning clothes belonging to a boy called Travers Buxton (born 10.12.1864) who wore them on the death of his mother in 1871.
