Summary
Two doll's house size baby cradles, one wicker, one plastic. The brown wicker cradle slopes to one side and has a tear on one side of the hood. Inside is a piece of pink felt bedding. In addition there are two separate pieces of shaped wood, presumably the rockers. There is also a single loose piece of wicker. The plastic baby cradle is pink and is moulded and shaped. Edging the hood is a row of moulded hearts, rather like a bonnet frill. The near end of the cradle has a moulded and painted illustration of a flower and a heart and is embossed with 'Dolly's Cradle' in red. There are some cracks. Total number of items is 6.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mrs Nina Hooley in 1976. Part of the contents of a large doll's house (catalogued as 661760) given to the donor in 1919, when she was 6 years old.
Marks and inscriptions
On the end of the plastic cradle: 'DOLLY'S CRADLE'
