Summary
A cream flannel barracoat for a baby (circa 1900). It has a short bodice which overlaps, one end being threaded through a large 'buttonhole' in the side of the bodice. The top edges of the bodice and the edges of the 'buttonhole' are embroidered in blanket stitch, with a row of feather stitch all around the edge. The skirt has a looped design embroidered in satin stitch all around, forming a scalloped edge. In each of the lower corners is a large embroidered motif of two flowers entwined in a ribbon. Cream ribbon is used as ties and to form the shoulder straps. There are several small holes (mostly darned) and some faint brown stains.
