Summary
A 1940s dark brown boy's (possibly a teenager) gabardine raincoat lined with a cream, grey, brown and green checked cotton material. It has a deep revere collar with a button hole on each lapel. It is double breasted with six large buttons down the front. There is a slit pocket on either side below the belt. The stitched belt with a leather covered metal buckle slots through two loops. The long raglan sleeves have a small pointed belt at the cuff with two adjustable buttons to fasten it. The back has a central seam and large opening flap, with a button half way down on the underside. The sleeves are lined in a plain brown cotton. There is a hanging loop at the neck. There is a black cotton label, inside the centre back, which reads 'Swallow Raincoat, Fine in the Rain'. In the centre of the label is a black swallow on a blue background with 'Guaranteed, Weatherproof' printed around it in yellow. This label is unstitched at one side. On the inside left edge, near the hem, is a small loose flap with a button hole, and a button attached to the edge of the coat. There is one large button on the inside right, at about waist level. The inside of one pocket is torn.
