Summary
Part of a collection of doll's house drawing room furniture (contents of Mrs Harvey's doll's house, inventory number - 665940). The furniture consists of the following items: A long curved felt covered window seat designed to sit in the bay window of the doll's house drawing room. The felt is black and decorated with brightly coloured flowers. The seat has four legs which are covered at the front. The back of the seat is uncovered and the wood and thread holding the cover together can be seen. A wooden sideboard with two openable cupboards with metal nail door knobs. The doors are loose. The inside of the sideboard has one shelf inside. The back is inscribed with the number '416' handwritten in pencil. A large brass metal candlestick. A cast brass metal stool, curved at the top. The seat is inscribed with 'Ashanti Stool, Wembley 1925'. This is therefore perhaps a model of an exhibit at the British Empire Exhibition held at that venue in 1925 (and 1924). Total number of items is 4.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mrs T Harvey in 1985.
