Summary
A boy's shirt - one part of a boy's Voortrekker national costume donated by the South African 1978. The shirt is made from white fine cotton and is long-sleeved and opens all the way down the front, fastening with five pearl button. The neck has a round stand up collar. Across the shoulders is a double band of material. The sleeves are set in at the shoulders and gathered into a deep double cuff fastening with two pearl buttons. The other garments for this boy's costume are recorded as 667781 and the photograph of the boy and girl waring the costumes as 668220. Voortrekker - a member of one of the groups of Dutch-speaking people who migrated by wagon from the Cape Colony into the interior from 1836 onwards, in order to live beyond the borders of British rule.
