Summary
A woman's silk skirt and jacket. The fabric is striped with very narrow horizontal lines of pale and slightly darker purple, with a shot silk effect of a dusty grey. The A-line skirt is made of tapered panels and has a lining of brown canvas 80mm deep at the hem. A deep cotton pocket is let into the side seam. The waistband is stiffened with ribbon at the front and with Rufflette tape at the back. There is a double row of matching silk-covered buttons down the front. The jacket is of the same material, roughly lined with cotton. The long sleeves have cuffs tucked and trimmed with cream lace ribbon, and pale purple and grey striped braiding. There is a deep over-sleeve. The stand-up collar is trimmed with cream lace. Trimmings of purple and cream lace appliqué go up the front, over the shoulders, and join in a V at the back, filled with a lace panel. Each side of the front has three false buttons and braided buttonholes. Both skirt and jacket are worn and have tiny holes in many places. Total number of items is 2.
