Summary
A painted wood and shell 'pedlar doll', representing a Southeast Asian woman, possibly Dutch or Dutch East Indian, 20th century. A wooden figurine of a woman, walking, and carrying baskets in each hand. The head with painted facial features, the clothing comprised of various types of shells arranged to represent a white jacket, a blue shirt with a central row of white buttons, and pink three-quarter length trousers, with a hollowed conical shell for the hat and metal earrings. The baskets contain shells arranged in the form of flowers. Mounted on a circular turned and painted wooden stand.
