Summary
A Market Day board game in its original packaging. Inside the box is a piece of green card for the board and the playing pieces to rest on. The board is folded into four. When opened, the board has an illustration of a farmer, their farmhouse and their animals in each quarter. Also in each quarter, a cow, a pig, a sheep and a horse can be pressed out, but this has not been done. Around the edge of the board are the playing squares including illustrations of the farmer in his tractor and various animals. In each edge are the animals at the market. The game includes four sets of cards illustrated with a cow, a horse, a sheep and a pig. There should be fifteen of each, sixty in total, but one of the cow cards is missing so the total of cards are fifty-nine. On the reverse of each card is 'Ravensburger' repeated many times in blue. The counters of the game are four plastic three dimensional farmers in their tractors, one green, one yellow, one red and one blue. Also contained is a red dice with gold spots, the game instructions and an advertisement leaflet including other games by the same company. The game is made by Ravensbuger but distributed by Fisher-Price. On the box lid is a colour photograph of cows in a field, a farm house behind and two horses in a fenced off field to the left. In front of all this is a superimposed illustration of the board game with playing cards, dice and tractor counters. The title is printed in red ink at the top. In the bottom left corner is a blue triangle with 'Ravensburger' printed in white lettering. Above this ia a white line on which reads 'Distributed By Fisher-Price' in blue ink. Around the edges of the box lid is a yellow border, with the title 'Market Day' repeated in red ink on each side, along with 'Ravensburger' in the blue square, ages and the number of players and a brief description of the game in black ink. On the top edge, 'Ravensburger' is omitted and a bar code is in its place. The bottom part of the box is black and white and on the base of the box is the title, an illustration of a cow, pig, horse and sheep, a brief description of the aim of the game, the game's contents, the ages and the number of players, the year, the author and designer. On the right side are two black and white photographs of children playing the game. Total number of items is 71.
