Summary
A letter from Emma Constable of London to Richard Richardson of Capenhurst near Chester, dated 19 September 1819. The letter is handwritten in ink on cream paper and covers both sides of the sheet. On the left-hand side of the front is Richard Richardson's name and address. The paper has been folded in on itself to form an envelope and fixed with a seal. The seal has been torn away and is attached to the centre of the sheet. The letter outlines Emma Constable's financial problems, including the failure of her school, and her move to White Lyon St. to open a shop. The words 'Derbyshire Museum Service' has been impressed on the letter. There is a small type-written sheet, with a précis of the letter, enclosed with the letter.
