Summary
A letter to Richard Richardson of Capenhurst near Chester from his cousin Emma Constable, dated 26.6.1814. It is handwritten in ink on both sides of cream coloured paper. On the front left-hand side is the name and address of Richard Richardson. The letter is folded to form an envelope and fixed with a seal on the centre fold, which has been cut away from the edge. The letter thanks him for continuing his allowance and sending extra money last time. She tells how after school hours she devotes her time to needlework and keeps 'no company whatever'. 'By that happy and quiet life I avoid making errors which people are often meet with who mingle with the world particularly with lower orders of people'. Enclosed is a small typewritten précis of the contents. The paper is impressed with the words 'Derbyshire Museum Service'
