Summary
A rectangular wooden box with a hinged lid, divided into two compartments, containing sixty-six square glass magic lantern slides. On the lid is a handwritten paper label which reads 'Lantern Slides- British- -Isles-Colonies-'. Another handwritten paper label on one side of the box reads 'Lantern Slides England- -Wales- -Ireland- Colonies Route India-Canada- Australia-S.Africa- New Zealand'. Some of the slides have black paper edging with printed details of what they depict. Others have no printed details. Some of the slides have dark pink fabric edging on which is handwritten in black ink 'B Colonies' or a specific country e.g. 'S. Africa'. Some of these also have handwritten descriptions. All the images are black and white photographs. There are several scraps of paper in the box which have not been counted, one reads 'Wales-3'; another 'New Zealand-6'; and one which has been torn in half 'reads From [Ilkeston] Cavendish Girls School'. Total number of items is 67.
