Summary
A 1960s 'all soft vinyl' doll called 'Tonie', 'A Faerie Glen doll' by the German manufacturers, enclosed within her original box. She has open and shut blue plastic eyes, black nylon eyelashes and brown nylon 'rooted hair'. She is wearing a short sleeved, short dress with a white lace collar and white lace trim to the sleeves. The dress has a white bodice and sleeves, and a white lace trimmed apron over an orange, white and green floral patterned dress. Dark green cord is threaded in a criss-cross arrangement at the front of the bodice. The hem of the dress is decorated with light green cord loops. Underneath are white knickers and socks. She has white plastic slip on shoes. The doll is held in place in the original box by a white plastic tape collar at the neck and around the ankles. The exterior and interior of the cardboard box is decorated with printed orange and white flowers. The lid is made of transparent plastic.
Marks and inscriptions
On the yellow label on the lid of the box: 'FaerieGlen/ REGD. TRADE MARK/ Present/ Tonie/ ALL SOFT VINYL, SLEEPING/ EYES, ROOTED HAIR/ MADE IN GDR' On the side of the box, inside a yellow rectangle containing a picture of a giraffe: 'SPIELZEUG/ RAUENSTEIN'
