Summary
A pair of stained and varnished wooden sandals with red fabric straps to put the feet in (1960s). They are contained in a cardboard box with separate lid. Both the box and lid are covered on the outside with patterned paper which is mainly red, green and white. These Japanese toys and other objects were given as gifts to the donor when she visited Japan on a lecture tour. She had written an autobiographical book (in the 1960s) which had been translated into Japanese so she was well known there. Total number of items is 4.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Miss Eileen Colwell in April 1992.
