Summary
A coloured print depicting a chimney sweep holding the tools of his trade, standing on a door step outside a brown front door with a black lion knocker. Two brass plates, one saying 'Knock' and 'Ring' and the other saying 'G Baxter offices No 12'. He wears a black jacket, trousers, boots and cap. The print is mounted on a beige card which once had a frame. The remains of glue is visible on all four sides. Printed on the doorstep is 'Published Sep. 1 1853 by G Baxter, Proprietor and Patentee, London'. The house is No 11.
Marks and inscriptions
On the bottom middle of the mount: 'Printed in OIL COLOUR/ BAXTER/ THE INVENTOR AND PATENTEE/ 11 & 12 NORTHAMPTON SQUARE' On the reverse of the print: '10 x 8 White Mount'
