Summary
A puzzle entitled 'The Japanese puzzle cube' (circa 1898), consisting of nine plain woo den jigsaw pieces which when assembled form a cube, and the lid of the original box. A paper label on the lid of the box reads as follows 'The Japanese Puzzle Cube, Take it to pieces then try to put it together again. Do not use force, B.P.C. Co.' The term 'Japanese puzzle' was used to sell the product and was never invented or manufactured in Japan. Between the 17th century and 19th century, Japan was cut off from the rest of the world. As a lot of interest was around at the time about the exotic and unknown of Japan it was a very good market strategy. Total number of items is 10.
