Summary
A double-sided colour broadsheet. On one side is written 'The Life of a Sailor, Composed and Arranged for the Piano Forte, By Chas. W. Glover. London; Leoni Lee and Coxhead, Music Sellers To Her Majesty, Queen Victoria, 48, Albemarke St. where May Be Had Uniform With The Above 'The Life of a Soldier', By C W Glover'. There are nine scenes depicting different events in a sailor's life. Beneath each scene is a caption. The central scene shows a one-legged sailor, sitting in profile, smoking a pipe and wearing a sailor's uniform and tricorn hat. Beneath this image is the caption 'Safely Moor'd at Greenwich Hospital'. On the other side of the broadsheet are three colour images. In the top right is a man holding a whip above his head; in the centre is a couple dancing and in the bottom left hand corner is a man raising both his hands in an attempt to stop a dispute between the two women on either side of him. This side of the broadsheet is entitled 'The Mountebanks Quadrilles by P. Bucalossi. London Chappell and Co. 50 New Bond St. W/ Agents, New-York.
