Summary
A pack of 52 Lexicon cards with their box and one card 'For Bridge and all 'The World's Best' Supplied by All Stationers and Stories' (circa 1940). The cards have a capital letter in the centre in black, a number at each corner, and a capital letter at the top left and bottom right corner. The reverse side of the card has a design in red. The box in brown and grey and has, printed in white, 'Waddington's Lexicons [Regd No 52001] Card Game The Game of Skill, Excitement and Interest'. A broken gold coloured seal at the top reads 'Made in England'. A set of rules accompanies the game on two sides of one piece of paper. Total number of items is 54. Waddington’s – 1922 to 1994 Founded as Waddingtons Limited as a printing business. The name then changed from Waddingtons Limited to Waddington's House of Games. In 1905 Waddington's House of Games changed their name to John Waddington Limited. In 1922 John Waddington Limited changed their name to Waddington Games. The last name change was from Waddington Games to Waddingtons. In 1971 Waddingtons bought out Alf Cooke. In 1994 Waddingtons was bought out by Hasbro
