Summary

A 1930s Manton coach-built baby's or child's pram with four wheels, two large and two small, and a hood and with an unusually shallow body . There are three removable panels in the base of the interior. The removal of the central panel would convert the pram to provide seating for two toddlers. The pram has a cream-white exterior with a dark green-black trim, with a cream-white interior. The handle is silver-coloured with a cream-white handrail. The front edge of the hood is trimmed with a cream and brown Greek key design braid. The body has a curved base and is made of wood. There are two silver-coloured metal studs at either end of the body. In the centre bottom of the body, underneath the central removable panel, is a wooden panel covered with plastic to form a footrest. The name 'Manton' is painted on the front of the body in red and gold. The body of the pram is fixed to the frame with six leather adjustable straps. There is a brake handle at the rear of the pram which operates on to the front wheels. The hood is made of fabric lined with plastic. The sides of the interior are padded as is the rim. There is a plastic-covered foam mattress over the three panels in the base of the interior. There is a detachable apron with the pram made of dark green-black fabric lined with cream-white vinyl, with leather straps at the hood end. The pram wheels have solid rubber tyres. The rear wheels slightly overlap the front wheels. There is a detachable fringed sun canopy lined with green fabric with an outer cover of cream fabric with a green leaf print. The fringe is cream coloured. The canopy is on a black folding metal frame which in turn is attached to silver-coloured metal struts. There is an adjustable cord with a leather eyelet on the sun canopy. The total number of items is 15.
