Summary
A brass magic lantern with a wooden base (1866 - 1870). A brass cylindrical container for fuel is surmounted by a wick, with a knurled knob for raising the wick. Above this is a brass sphere with a funnel and in front a glass aperture to allow the light through. A brass lens holder is supported by two iron brackets with scroll designs. Attached to this bracket, by a washer and screw, is a glass rotating disc with eight coloured images of men's faces. Total number of items is 2.
Marks and inscriptions
Front aspect of the brackets, in a brass oval with a circle flanked by two wings: 'E.P.' On a wooden base at the front of the lantern, inside a metal oval: 'REST(?) GESCHUTZ'
