Summary
A 'Schoenhut' jointed clown (circa 1903 to circa 1930), with a wooden head, body, arms, hands, legs and feet. His head and hands are painted white and he has painted facial features. His legs and feet are painted red. He is wearing a white all in one clown's outfit with red diamonds and blue circles. On his head is a conical white wooden hat with three red spots. Around his neck is a white muslin ruff. He has a white painted cardboard left ear (his right ear is missing). He is part of the Schoenhut circus set. Schoenhut Manufacturers of Philadelphia was formed in 1872 with the clown patented in 1903, coinciding with the introduction of the 'Humpty Dumpty Circus'.
