Summary
A 1920s (possibly) wooden toy carriage possibly made by the German company 'VEB Biggin, Walterhausen' Toy Company or by the German company 'Bauer and Krause', Leipzig, Germany. Manufactured from the late 19th century till the 1930s. The 'Thuringian Toy Company 'catalogue from the 1920s illustrates a similar model pulled by a skin, plush or felt covered papier mache horse. It is painted red and green with four revolving metal wheels with decorative spokes painted dark yellow. It has an elaborate carved under-carriage supporting a broken front shaft. The front and rear seats are covered in imitation leather fabric held on by three metal studs. The floor of the rear half of the carriage is covered with paper with a black and white design. It has a black painted metal foot plate at the front. This horse is part of a set consisting of a stable, trolley, feeding box and 5 horses - inventory number 665409.
