Summary
A doll's cream cotton long-sleeved nightdress sampler. It has a lace-edged collar and cuffs and a lace-edged jabot (circa 1892). The bodice has many fine pin tucks and there are four fine pin tucks to each cuff. The dress fastens with three buttons at the front. This item is possibly the work of Sophie Golden, aged sixteen years, a pupil of 'Westgate House, Peterborough. Conducted by Miss Willoughby'. (Betty Cadbury, Playthings Past p.52).
