Summary
A varnished paper covered globe printed in colour and glued to a spherical support in concentric bands (circa 1927). It revolves on a shaped metal pivot which in turn revolves on a three legged stand. When cleaned at Calke, it was found that the concentric bands lifted off to form solid sections. Each 'disc' or section is impressed with the shape of a continent. Into this fit coloured jigsaw pieces of the countries that make up the area. Each piece is embossed with the name or names of the country. The name of the continent and surrrounding seas are embossed round the shape.
