Summary

On display A metal Mamod steam traction engine model (circa 1963 to circa 1984) with a green and black boiler, a black chimney, a silver coloured fuel box and a black surround to the cab. It has two large metal rear wheels and two small front wheels, all with red spokes. The front wheels are attached to the front axle and are movable. A power take off flywheel is mounted to the left of the boiler and this in turn drives a piston on the left which is connected to the boiler by two pipes. A white metal hood extends the length of the engine supported by the chimney and two metal supports at the rear. The engine also comes with a detachable steerage rod which screws into the chimney stack to guide the front wheels. In storage The traction engine comes with an original box for the Mamod steam traction engine. The box is rectangular in shape and is made from thick cardboard. It is joined at one side and on the base with metal staples. On one side of the box is a stuck on red and black paper label. The left hand side is red and has an illustration of the 'Mamod steam tractor' below which is the manufacturer's details. The other side of the label has the word 'Mamod' in white on a black background below which is a description of the engine's features, followed by an address. The other side of the box also has a red and black label on it. The left hand side has a diagram of the traction engine above which are the words 'Mamod Traction Engine T.E.1'. Below are the words 'Malin Engineers Limited'. On the right hand side is a list of instructions, below which is an address. The box contains seven items as follows; a printed paper packet containing three Mamod 'Flexible Steel Spring Driving Belt'; a black rubber band; a round metal badge with a plastic front with the text 'Rod Stewart, I was there, The Concert Europe 1976' and an illustration of an arm breaking through a straw hat; and a small screw driver with a yellow plastic handle.
