Summary
A Raleigh Chopper child's bicycle from the 1970s. The metal frame is largely painted red with 'Chopper' printed in yellow down each side of the frame, and 'Raleigh' also in yellow down the front of the seat tube. The tall, curved handlebars, curved backrest and mud guards are silver metal. The large, long black seat is rectangular in shape and raised at the back. The back wheel is 20 inches wide, larger than the 16 inch front wheel. The gears are changed using a central gear lever at the base of the handlebars. The lever has a red T-bar handle and three gear options. The bike also has a red chain guard with 'Raleigh' printed in yellow with yellow stripes. On the front of the bike are the Raleigh logos, and on the back of the seat is a yellow sticker with 'Raleigh Chopper' printed in black. Chopper bicycles were sold in the UK by Raleigh from 1969. This bike is a mark 2 Chopper, which were made between 1972 - 1982.
