Summary
A knitted boy scarecrow doll named Sonny, paired with Susie as 'The Twins’, part of a knitted scarecrow family (circa 1988). Doll has an attached hat, scarf and pants with caterpillar also attached. The doll has yellow acrylic yarn hair sewn onto the head, underneath a stripy knitted woolly hat, with pompom attached at the top made out of pieces of blue acrylic yarn. The doll has a white face with black felt eyes, an orange carrot knitted nose and red lips both made from acrylic yarn, with painted on rosey cheeks. He has a red knitted body with an attached knitted yellow scarf with frayed ends made out of pieces of acrylic yarn. On the left shoulder a green knitted caterpillar is attached. His pants are attached to the body. They are knitted dark blue pants, with dark blue suspenders. At the front two yellow knitted buttons have also been attached. His ankles are yellow, with green and black shoes attached. This was knitted by the donor's mother Margaret Thompson, part of a collection of 7 knitted scarecrow dolls and a small Father Christmas. The knitting patterns for all the dolls are by Jean Greenhowe.
