Summary
A knitted woman scarecrow doll named Grandma, part of a knitted scarecrow family (circa 1988). The doll has an attached bonnet, apron, skirt and bloomers, with a bumblebee and umbrella attached. The doll has yellow acrylic yarn hair tied into a ponytail sewn onto the head, underneath a green and light blue knitted bonnet. The bonnet is tied underneath the dolls chin with a piece of green acrylic yarn and has a knitted bumblebee attached at the top. The doll has a white face with black felt eyes, an orange carrot knitted nose and red lips both made from acrylic yarn, with painted on rosey cheeks. She has a red knitted body and legs, with light blue knitted cuffs and white hands. Her light blue knitted apron is attached to the body. It has two yellow knitted buttons at the top of the apron with a red knitted handkerchief attached to the aprons front pocket. The knitted yellow with multicolour hemmed skirt is attached to the body, with yellow knitted bloomers attached underneath. Her knitted shoes are red, blue and black. Attached to the dolls left hand is a knitted pink umbrella, with black handle, yellow patch detail and green acrylic yarn tie. It is attached by the handle to the dolls hand. This was knitted by the donor's mother Margaret Thompson, part of a collection of 7 knitted scarecrow dolls and a small Father Christmas. The knitting patterns for all the dolls are by Jean Greenhowe.
