Summary
A knitted woman scarecrow doll named Sally part of a knitted scarecrow family (circa 1988). Doll has attached hat, scarf, skirt and bloomers, with bumblebee and basket also attached. Five knitted mushrooms are loose in the basket. The doll has yellow acrylic yarn hair sewn onto the head tied into pigtails, underneath a beige hat with a bumblebee attached on the top. The hat has a pink, blue and white knitted flowers attached to it. The doll has a white face with black felt eyes, an orange carrot knitted nose and red lips both made from acrylic yarn, with painted on rosey cheeks. She has a red knitted body with an attached knitted dark blue bow tie. She has a light blue knitted body with white hands. Her scarf and skirt are attached to the body. The knitted scarf is red with a knitted yellow pendant on the front, inscribed with a red ‘S’ on it. The knitted skirt is multicoloured, with attached yellow knitted bloomers underneath. The shoes are knitted red, blue and black. The beige knitted basket is attached by the handle. This was knitted by the donor's mother Margaret Thompson, part of a collection of 7 knitted scarecrow dolls and a small Father Christmas. The knitting patterns for all the dolls are by Jean Greenhowe. Total number of items is 6.
