Summary
A white cotton and polyester baby's sleeping bag, with a white zip (2004). It has detailed embroidery on front depicting one brown beer, one white badger and one brown deer with a small brown logo on the right saying 'baby'. It is fastened on the shoulders with two press studs on either side, with the zip fastening the right side down to the bottom of the white quilt. It has a fabric label on the inside of the zip, which has the make 'George' (Asda's clothing brand) and the size 0-6 months. The fabric label also states the weight '18lbs 8kg Approximate Length 70cm'. These baby sleeping bags are used to prevent a baby sliding under the covers and, because they have a very low tog rating, are also ideal for preventing the baby from overheating. They are thought to promote 'safe sleep practice'. Additional covers are not recommended when using this type of baby sleeping bag. The sleeping bag was purchased from Asda in Derby in 2004 (for approx £10) and used by the donor's two children - Janna Rose Simden born 1.4.2004 and Kathryn Tara Simden born 13.12.2006. The digital photograph attached to this record shows Kathryn Simden asleep and wearing the sleeping bag (inside a Moses basket) as a newborn baby, only two days after her birth.
