Summary
A child's outfit for dressing up as a 'cowboy'. It consists of a waistcoat and trousers, made from red cotton fabric, printed in white with 'wild west' images which are very faded. The waistcoat, which has a red and white plastic star at the top edge of each front, is edged with red and yellow, looped woollen braid. The trousers, which have similar braid inserted at the side seams, have a waistband which is only elasticated at the front. Total number of items is 2.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Gary Hepworth in 2008. The donor used to wear this with a black felt hat with a star on the front, and carry a plastic 6-gun 'just like the real thing'. He cannot remember if these items all came together as a set. He was aged about 5 or 6 when he was given this set, in the 1960s.
