Summary
A 'Give-a-Show' toy projector (circa 1968 to circa 1970) with its original box, including slides of scenes based on the Disney film 'Jungle Book'. The box is made of colour-printed cardboard and has an insert which is folded and perforated to provide housing for the projector and its set of sixteen slides. The projector is made from blue plastic with a red plastic lens ring for focussing the clear plastic lens, a red plastic 'on/off' switch and red plastic pins which secure the battery housing. Moulded on each side of the main piece is 'Give-A-Show Projector'. Also moulded, on one side, are instructions for focussing and fitting/removing batteries. Each slide strip consists of two long strips of thin cardboard with a row of seven colour-printed images on clear plastic, visible through 'windows'. These are numbered both in blue printing ink (249-264) and in blue biro (1-16). Underneath the cardboard insert are several pieces of colour-printed cardboard which can be used as scenery and characters to act out the story. It is not clear whether these were part of the original set or possibly added later. Two pieces do not belong with the rest. There is also a page from the Lincolnshire Standard newspaper dated September 17th 1971. Total number of items is 38.
