Summary
An envelope with a nine pence colour stamp depicting an illustration of Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck and Squirrel Nutkin with a countryside background and Queen Elizabeth II's silver coloured head in the top left corner. Printed on the stamp in black ink is 'The Tale of Peter Rabbit. The Year of the Child'. Below the stamp is printed information about Beatrix Potter and the date of the first day cover, 11th July 1979. A brown illustration of Peter Rabbit is in the bottom left corner with copyright information below. To the right of Peter Rabbit is printed '1st Day Cover. The Year of the Child 1979 / by courtesy of Tellastory'. ‘Tellastory’ is written in a rectangle with the smiling face open book logo to the right. The back of the envelope is blank with a fold down flap. Inside is printed 'conqueror'.
