Summary
A large wooden play pen, two sides of which are hinged with metal hinges and these fold inwards for carrying and storage (1950s). The play pen has vertical wooden bars and is decorated with painted pictures of animals; a horse, pelican, owl, rabbit, a chicken and a duck clothed with guns and swords, a rabbit with a drum and a dressed owl with a sword. These pictures are on large panels. At the front of the play pen is a panel containing three horizontal bars on which are brightly painted wooden beads forming an abacus.
Provenance
Loaned to the Museum of Childhood by Mr A. E. Burch in September 1975, and later donated in July 1995.
