Summary
A set of picture blocks with printed illustrations of an abridged version of 'The Pilgrim's Progress'. Four of the illustrations from the book are reproduced and glued on to twenty five wooden blocks. Sixteen blocks comprise one picture and there are nine loose blocks making part of a picture. The accompanying book is entitled 'The Pilgrim's Progress, for Children, John Bunyan, on Picture Puzzle Blocks'. The book contains eight coloured illustrations. There are seven pages of text and each page has black and white illustrations. The front cover has a coloured illustration of John Bunyan lying on a bed in prison, a cross and man in the background. Two coloured illustrations in roundels depict houses at the top left and right hand side. The remaining 39 blocks make up the remaining corresponding pictures. Total number of items is 65. The illustrations are attributed to Thomas Bolton Gilchrist Septimus Dalziel 1823-1906, the youngest of seven brothers who all worked in some form of illustration work.
