Summary

A jigsaw puzzle in the shape of a train locomotive (c1934), made of wood with paper stuck onto it. The green Great Western locomotive bears the name 'King George V' in gold coloured lettering. Information about production, date, manufacturer and place of manufacture is noted on the case label. The jigsaw comes in a green and white cardboard box with a hinged lid, which fastens to the box with two white cotton tape ties. On the box lid is a green paper label on which is printed 'About 200 Interlocking - Three Plywood Jigsaw, GWR Puzzle, Published by The Great Western Railway Co. Manufactured by The Chad Valley Co. Ltd. Harborne, England'. There is also a white net bag, a printed advertisement for the GWR publication 'Holiday Haunts', a colour printed map of the GWR railway network, folded up and placed inside a cardboard map holder on which is printed 'Map of G.W.R. System'. There is also a printed pamphlet entitled 'The Literature of Locomotion, Catalogue of travel Guides, Jig-Saw Puzzles, etc' published in March, 1934. On the exterior of the box is a silver coloured sticky label holding a Christmas gift tag in place. Total number of items is 221.
