Summary
A dissected puzzle depicting a map of Europe. It is made of wood with the picture printed on paper and glued on. The border pieces interlock, as do many of the others, but as they are cut to the shape of the countries, many do not. The puzzle is quite stained, and the accompanying paper map is slightly torn and stained around the edges. The box is made of varnished wood, and has a sliding lid, on which is stuck a label which reads 'Superior Dissected Maps Europe' and shows two children doing a similar puzzle. Between the words 'Superior' and 'Dissected' is a picture of a peacock, with 'Toys to Teach' written on a scroll at its feet. The outside base of the box is covered in green paper. Total number of items is 57.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mr Lawrence Bray in October 1978.
