Summary
Two leaflets (1939) - one issued by the Civil Defence (a) entitled 'Evacuation Why and How', the other (b) a ‘Home Office Air Raid Precautions Department Anti Gas Protection of Babies and Young Children’. The civil defence leaflet is single folded sheet of cream thin card. On the front the title is within a border of black scrolled motifs with a crown and ‘Civil Defence’ printed centrally on a four black lined rainbow arc. Inside and on the back are listed what to do in an evacuation. The Home Office leaflet consists of two folded cream paper sheets printed in black ink and centrally stapled. The first page is headed 'Memorandum on the Anti Gas Protection of Babies and Young Children'. This leaflet gives details of fitting and using the respirator and baby's protective helmet. On the back page, written in black ink 'Home Office Air Raid Precaution Department Anti Gas Protection of Babies and/Young Children', with a stationary office crest and list of contents.
