Summary
A box in the form of a large book with red cloth covers and spine, with a coloured picture of a mother reading to three children on the front cover, which also forms the lid of the box. Printed on the front cover is 'The Speaking Picture Book, A new Picture Book with characteristic Voices, Printed in Germany'. The top and bottom edges of the box are made of wood with carved leaf patterns incised. On each of the ten pages of the book is an arrow pointing to a knob projecting from the box. When a knob is pulled a sound is heard, related to the picture on the appropriate page. These sounds are produced by squeakers inside the box, operated by cords pulled by the ten knobs. Most of the cords are broken and some of the squeaker mechanisms are loose. Two of the knobs are detached from the cords. Total number of items is 14.
