Summary
A plastic 'Roddy' doll in her original box (circa 1955). She has moulded and painted facial features, an open mouth showing two teeth, and inset blue glass eyes that should open and close, but seem a little stiff. Her light brown shoulder length hair is set in roll curls. She has a plastic body and limbs with moulded fingers, and is jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips. When her legs are made to 'walk', her head turns from side to side. She has a sound box but this is not working. She is wearing the original light and dark blue outfit. There is a light blue, long sleeved jacket of fleecy knitted fabric with dark felt reverse and cuffs, a pleated, wrap-around skirt of dark blue felt with a light tape at the waist, and a white rayon blouse front which is tied round the back of the neck and sewn to the waist of white knickers. On her head is a dark and light blue tam o'shanter hat with a pompom. She also has a dark blue felt scarf, white knitted sock and white plastic shoes. The box is made of plain, brown, cardboard in one piece. A white and red label is glued to one end reading, 'Roddy Dolls and Plastic Toys Made in England'. The lid is dog-eared and stained. The base section is lined with a piece of corrugated card. Total number of items is 3.
